Serving God By Serving Others
God designed us to make a difference in the lives of others. When we help others we serve God. Many people confuse the word ministry in association with ministers, such as pastors or church staff. God, however, has a ministry for all believers. In Scripture, the word servant and minister are synomous as are service and ministry. Every Christian is called to service. It does not matter who you are, where you're from, your background or occupation. You are called to serve. Jesus himself was unmistakable when he said, "Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve and to give my life" (Matthew 20:28).
At First Colbert Heights, we do not believe Christian service is an option. It is the result of salvation, the heart of the Christian life. Just as Christ came to serve and give his life, we are to do the same. Genuine salvation will always produce good works.
There are several ministry opportunities for a member to become faithfully involved at First Baptist Colbert Heights. We encourage every member to find an area where God has gifted and begin serving in that capacity.
